Outer Banks Watersports
OUTER BANKS WATER SPORTS
With the Outer Banks surrounded by water, it’s no wonder that water sports abound. The open waters of the sound are great locations for motorized watercraft including jet skis and boats, but take care as it is very shallow in some places. Surfing, Jet skis, kayaks, wind surfing, parasailing, and paddle boarding can be found in many different areas along the Outer Banks. The sound’s calm waters and many lagoons are perfect for kayaking. There are several launches in the area and kayaking is a great opportunity to take in the abundant wildlife in our area. Cranes, osprey and many birds frequent the Outer Banks and can be spotted with little effort. The shallow water and consistent wind conditions make windsurfing one of the top sports here. Kite boarding and paddle boarding are becoming popular and the ocean is a great place to try these newest activities.
